David W. McCauley: Bio

 

David W. McCauley, Councilor

Current Term: 2022 – 2026

David’s previous service to the City of Buckhannon includes serving as the City Attorney from June 1, 1983 to June 30, 2015; as a member of the City of Buckhannon Planning Commission from July 1, 2015 to May 15, 2016; and, as Mayor from May 15, 2016 to June 30, 2020.

During his term as Mayor several important initiatives took place including the reopening of the Public Safety Complex parking lot, the College Avenue sidewalk project, the Trader’s Alley/Milkman Lane project, grant awards or applications to realize the Gateway West and River Walk Trail project extensions and acquiring the Colonial Art Center.  David has been a driving force in securing donations for the Stockert Youth & Community Center Capital Campaign and is optimistic that groundbreaking for the a new SYCC multipurpose facility will take place soon. 

Mr. McCauley has s a Bachelor of Arts WVU (1980) and a Juris Doctorate from WVU (1983).  He has been with West Virginia Wesleyan College since 1983 as a Professor & as WVWC’s General Legal Counsel.  He served as a Director MBA Program (1994-99), and there are well over 100 former WVWC students who are now attorneys themselves.  

A native of Wheeling, WV, he is the son of Patricia and David A. McCauley; and his family includes daughter Ashley & son Connor; stepchildren Brianna, Kelsey, & Brandin; grandchildren Colten, Casen, Keslyn, Gianna, Anthony, & Braylee.
