Alpha Delta Kappa Day Celebrated In Buckhannon
October 25, 2021, BUCKHANNON, WV: Mayor Robbie Skinner welcomed members of Alpha Delta Kappa to Council Chambers in City Hall today. Alpha Delta Kappa has more than 1,100 chapters located in towns and cities in every state in the U.S., and around the world in Australia, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Thirty-three of the chapters are located throughout West Virginia including one in Buckhannon.
Alpha Delta Kappa empowers women educators to advance inclusion, educational excellence, altruism and world understanding. The organization supports numerous benevolent and philanthropic purposes including the Julia Kovach Memorial Project, Camp Kno Koma for children with diabetes, the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Per the Mayor’s proclamation, Monday, October 25, 2021 was proclaimed ALPHA DELTA KAPPA DAY throughout the City of Buckhannon. Joining Mayor Skinner in Council Chambers today were Alpha Delta Kappa members Penny Haymond, Kay Mearns, President of the local Alpha Delta Kappa, Shari Phillips, Patty Brock, and City Recorder Randy Sanders.
