City of Buckhannon Announces 2025 Christmas Holiday Schedule From the Office of Mayor Robbie Skinner

Buckhannon, WV — Mayor Robbie Skinner, joined by the Buckhannon City Council, extends sincere appreciation to all City of Buckhannon employees for their dedication, professionalism, and year-round commitment to serving residents, businesses, and visitors. Their work continues to make Buckhannon one of the most admired small towns in America.

In recognition of the holiday season—and with Christmas falling on a Thursday this year—Mayor Skinner, with full City Council support, has authorized the City of Buckhannon to follow the Christmas holiday schedule established by Governor Patrick Morrisey. As a public utility and safety provider, the City has outlined the following operational adjustments:

Holiday Operational Schedule

Wednesday, December 24

Waste Collection: Normal Wednesday pickup schedule.
Transfer Station: OPEN until 11:00 AM, following a typical Saturday schedule.
City Hall: CLOSED to the public beginning December 24. Staff will still be available by phone (Wednesday and Friday) at 304 472 1651 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, December 25

All City offices are closed, including the Transfer Station. Waste pickup will take place on Friday

Friday, December 26

Waste Collection: Thursday customers will receive pickup service.
Transfer Station: CLOSED.
City Hall: CLOSED to the public. Staff will still be available by phone on Friday at 304-472-1651 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, December 27

Transfer Station: CLOSED.

Public Safety Departments

Police and Fire Departments will operate on their standard schedules as directed by their respective Chiefs throughout the holidays.

Water & Sanitary Departments

Operations will follow normal holiday procedures.
Department Heads will adjust staffing as needed to ensure uninterrupted service.

City Hall

CLOSED Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26. Staff will still be available by phone (Wednesday and Friday) at 304 472 1651 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Return to Normal Operations

All City departments and services will resume normal business hours on Monday, December 29.
