Gold Star Mothers and Family Day, and dedication of the Yellow Rose Tribute Garden

BUCKHANNON, WV — On Sunday, September 28, 2025, community members gathered in Jawbone Park for a heartfelt dedication ceremony in honor of Gold Star Mothers and Family Day, as well as the unveiling of the newly installed Yellow Rose Tribute Garden.

Gold Star Mothers and Family Day is a solemn national observance held annually on the last Sunday of September. It pays tribute to the families of U.S. military service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. The day serves as a poignant reminder of the cost of freedom and the enduring strength of those left behind.
