Mayor’s Message on Flood Emergency 2018
Mayor’s Message on Flood Emergency 2018:
Please know that the Upshur County Commission has declared a county-wide state of emergency due to flooding. I encourage you to refrain from travel as much as possible until the waters recede this evening. Please check on your elderly or disabled neighbors, and make certain pets are not in peril in areas of rising water. If you have an emergency, contact 911. Our City personnel will assist in reopening all streets impacted by high water as soon as possible. Do not walk in high water as there is potential for storm sewer manholes to be dislodged and you would be at risk. Also, do not drive in floodwaters. In a few hours, we will begin our cleanup operations. Thanks for your cooperation during this weather challenge.
David McCauley, Mayor
