Yard Waste Collection Updates
-Yard waste will be collected from Buckhannon residents on August 22, 2025. Starting September 1, collections will be every Friday through November 30. Residents must contact City Hall to be added to the collection list. You can also drop off bagged yard waste at the Transfer Station for free, up to two truckloads per year.

Dates to Remember
– These events have been scheduled with the city’s Consolidated Public Works Board

  • August 14, 2025 – First day of classes for Upshur County Schools with a 2 ½ hour early dismissal
  • August 15 & 16, 2025 – Hillbilly Days Car Show & BBQ – in the North Buckhannon Riverfront Park, 22 Sixth Street
  • August 16, 2025 – West Virginia Wesleyan College Move-In Day
  • August 23, 2025 – Chapel Hill Block Party – on Hart Avenue
  • August 23, 2025 – RiverFest – at the Riverwalk Boat Ramp

Reminders – To help keep our town and streets attractive, please:

  • Lawn care needs to be performed weekly
  • Keep grass clippings out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding.  When mowing, always blow the grass away from the street.
  • Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.

Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.

Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
