Monday, January 19^th

• Martin Luther King Jr. Day In honor of Martin Luther King Day, all city offices, including the Transfer Station will be closed. The normal Waste Collection schedule will occur.

Tuesday, January 20^th

• Curbside Recycling Pick-up begins at 6:00 a.m. – Pick-up occurs within the Buckhannon city limits. Information about recycling can be found on our website at https://buckhannonwv.org/residents/recycling/, at City Hall, or by calling the Recycling Center or Upshur County Solid Waste Authority at (304) 472-4443.

Thursday, January 22^nd

• Consolidated Public Works Meeting, 7:30–8:30 a.m. – Attend in person or join virtually, by using this link or by calling (872) 240-3212, access code 376-934-309.

• City of Buckhannon Job Opening: Garbage Truck Helper – The Waste Collection Department is accepting applications until January 23^rd for one full-time Garbage Truck Collection Helper position.  For more information, including how to apply, click here.
• Planning Commission Meeting – A regular meeting of the Buckhannon City Planning Commission will be held on January 27^th at 7:00 P.M. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 70 East Main Street, Buckhannon WV. This is an open meeting (per WV code § 6-9A-3) and all interested parties are welcome to attend.

Reminders:

• Snow & Ice Removal:  Under City Ordinance 193, property owners must remove snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their premises. Prompt clearing ensures safe passage for children walking to school, seniors, and neighbors with mobility challenges. Please clear sidewalks as soon as practical after snowfall and maintain them throughout winter weather.
  
  
• Trash Can Placement: Trash cans must be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.

• Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.

• Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
