- Thanksgiving Friday – All City of Buckhannon Offices, including the Transfer Station, will be closed. Waste Collection will run.

- The Transfer Station will be closed
Dates to Remember – These events have been scheduled with the city’s Consolidated Public Works Board
- November 27, 2025 – Upshur County Recreational Complex will hold a 5K, beginning in Jawbone Park at 7:30 a.m.
- December 5, 2025 – Buckhannon Fire Department Christmas Parade down Main Street at 6:00 p.m. Santa Claus will visit the Buckhannon Fire Department following the parade.
- December 14, 2025 – Annual Menorah Lighting in Jawbone Park at 7:00 p.m.
Coming to the Colonial Arts Center
- Now through December 13, 2025 – The CAC Gallery at the Colonial Arts Center is hosting ‘Luminescence,’ a solo exhibition by Sikara Sokel. The CAC Gallery is open 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Sokel is a contemporary painter from Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and a 2024 graduate of Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and primarily works in oil, reimagining traditional portraiture through vibrancy, light and color.

Reminders – To help keep our town and streets attractive, please:
- Keep leaves out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding. When mowing, always blow the grass away from the street.
- Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.

Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
