St. Joseph’s Hospital Week Proclamation, 9:30 am—City Officials will salute WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital as it celebrates National Nurses’ Week and National Hospital Week. National Nurses’ Week runs from May 6th to 12th, and National Hospital Week is May 11th to 17th.

Annual Webb Grubb Police Officer Recognition Day, 3:00 – 4:00 pm, Buckhannon Police Department
24 S Florida St, Buckhannon, WV 26201 – The City of Buckhannon resolved to recognize and pay tribute to all police officers each Wednesday of our annual West Virginia Strawberry Festival. We first honored Wilbert H“Webb” Grubb, for whom this day of recognition was named in 2017. In 2018, we followed up with honoring Lieutenant Keith Rowan, Chief Fred Gaudet in 2019, Lieutenant Darrell Bennett in 2021, our former Upshur County Sheriff David Coffman in 2022, former police officer Buddy Ray Zickefoose in 2023, and Chief Chesley Mearns in 2024. One special law enforcement honoree will be recognized this year as well.

Annual Friendly Way Day Firefighter Recognition, 3:00 – 4:00 pm, Buckhannon Fire Department, 22 S Florida St, Buckhannon, WV 26201 – A ceremony to honor the memory of longtime Fire Chief, Carl R. “Bud,” “Ole Friendly” Bennett, and the previous naming of the street in front of the truck bay of our City of Buckhannon Fire Department as “Friendly Way.” Each year, the Buckhannon Council honors members of our Fire Department family who have contributed to the high quality of life enjoyed by our residents, while embodying the essence of our “friendly way” as part of their public service to our community, during a celebration known as “Friendly Way Day”.

Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method, you may still want to set up an account, which will allow you to monitor your consumption. To sign up for this service, you will need to complete the online registration, which includes knowing your Utility Board Account Number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, you must log in with the proper email and password.
Reporting a Necessary Repair or Registering a Concern with the City – To report a necessary repair, such as potholes, damaged street signs, an issue in a city park, etc., or any other matter that a city department should attend to, call City Hall during regular business hours and ask to submit a work order request, or report your concerns through our Citizens Engagement tool: https://buckhannonwv.portal.iworq.net/BUCKHANNON/new-request/700/3444. This will speed up the reaction time to a matter that needs immediate attention.
