43-Year City Of Buckhannon Employee Reflects On A “Job That He Has Loved”!
November 14, 2021 BUCKHANNON, WV: During the September 16, 2021 Buckhannon Sanitary Board meeting, Bryan “Buck” Samples told the Board Members that he had worked for the City of Buckhannon for 43 years and while he enjoyed his time with the City, and feels that he had been treated very well, it was time now for him to move into the retirement phase of his life.
At the conclusion of the more recent October 21, 2021 Sanitary Board meeting, and his final day as the City of Buckhannon Sanitary Department Superintendent, Buck reiterated what he had said before in that he “loved working for the City of Buckhannon and felt that he was always treated with respect.” He took ownership in his work and hoped the pride that he had for that and his department had been evident. Buck mentioned the various members of the City staff that he has enjoyed working alongside and thanked the crew members of the Sanitary Department for the hard work that put forth day in and day out. He also thanked the Mayor for his leadership and extended his best wishes to his successor at the Sanitary Department, Ethan Crosten.
Mayor Robbie Skinner noted that Buck has been a valued member of the City Family for 43 years who will truly be missed and wished him well with his retirement. He then presented Buck with an engraved clock commemorating Buck’s many years of service to the City of Buckhannon and the customers of the Buckhannon Sanitary Department.
