City Crews Clear Grass Clippings from Drains To Prevent Damage From Flooding

August 12, 2022, BUCKHANNON, WV: Sanitation Department Officials reported several storm drains have been plugged over the last 3 weeks with grass clippings.  Had the crews not been able to clear them quickly enough between rains, flooding could have occurred.

When you or your yard service finish mowing, excess grass MUST be collected and disposed of properly. The City collects yard debris early on the first and third Friday morning of the month – you must call and schedule a pickup before noon on the prior Thursday. Note: yard waste is collected by the Street Department and is not treated as garbage. Please do not dispose of yard waste as part of your weekly trash pickup.
