General Election Day
—All city offices, including the Transfer Station, will be closed for the general election on Tuesday, November 05, 2024. Waste pickup (and curbside recycling) will run on schedule.

Curbside Recycling Pick-Up begins at 6:00 am – Within the City Limits – Information about recycling can be found on our website at https://buckhannonwv.org/residents/recycling/ or City Hall and by calling the Recycling Center or Upshur County Solid Waste Authority at (304) 472-4443

Bulky Goods Collection Begins at 5:30 AM – 
Bulky goods collection for large items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, appliances, etc. (All Buckhannon Waste Department customers are allowed four (4) items per month and eight (8) tires per year.)   You must call by Wednesday, November 6, 2024, to schedule a pick-up.  Items must be at the curb by 5:30 AM. on Friday to ensure pick-up.

Veterans Day 2024 To Be Observed, November 11, 2024
– The City of Buckhannon will honor all veterans of the uniformed services who served or are still serving during times of peace and war. In doing so, all city offices, including the Transfer Station, will be closed. Regular waste collection will be followed (all garbage will be collected).

Veterans Day Parade, November 11, 2024 – The Veteran’s Day parade will occur on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Following the parade, there will be a ceremony in Jawbone Park, which Mayor Robbie Skinner will attend.

Upshur County Tire Amnesty Day, November 16, 2024 – Sponsored by the WV Department of Environmental Protection (REAP) and the City of Buckhannon, the Upshur County Tire Amnesty Day 2024 will be November 16, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 395 Mud Lick Road. Buckhannon, WV 20201 (Across from the City of Buckhannon Transfer Station)

Guidelines:

  1. Only tires from state residents will be accepted. Please have your WV ID ready when you sign in.
  2. A ten-tire limit per person will be strictly enforced.
  3. The tires must be off the rim.
  4. We only accept tires from cars or light trucks.
  5. Please do not arrive before 8:45 a.m., which causes undo traffic issues.

Pay Utility BillsOnline or by Phone – To make an online payment for your utility bill, click here: https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/buckhannonwv – To pay over the phone, call 1-866-933-4026.  Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method, you may still want to set up an account, which will allow you to monitor your consumption.  To sign up for this service, you will need to complete the online registration, which includes knowing your Utility Board Account Number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, you must log in with the proper email and password.

Reporting a Necessary Repair or Registering a Concern with the City – To report a necessary repair, such as potholes, damaged street signs, an issue in a city park, etc., or any other matter that a city department should attend to, call City Hall during regular business hours and ask to submit a work order request, or report your concerns through our Citizens Engagement tool: https://buckhannonwv.portal.iworq.net/BUCKHANNON/new-request/700/3444.  This will speed up the reaction time to a matter that needs immediate attention.
