Monday through Wednesday, November 25 – 27, 2024 – All City offices and services will operate on a regular schedule

Thursday, November 28, 2024 
– All City Offices, including the Transfer Station, will be closed to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.  No Waste Collection will take place.

Friday, November 29, 2024 – All City Offices, including the Transfer Station, will be closed to celebrate Thanksgiving Friday.  The normal Waste Collection schedule will be followed.

December 6, 2024
Christmas Parade – The Buckhannon Fire Department announces the City’s annual Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024.  

The parade starts at 6:00 p.m., with the lineup beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Madison Street near the Goodwill parking lot. Members of the Buckhannon Fire Department will stage the parade and line everyone up. There is no application process and ONE rule: no Santas are allowed; the Buckhannon Fire Department only has Santa. To participate in the parade, be at the lineup location at 5:00 p.m.

A map of the route shows that the parade will require a Main Street closure.

Santa will be at the Fire Station after the parade; everyone is invited!

December 7, 2024 – 3rd Annual WV Dickens Christmas Festival and Faire – Bring on the Holiday Season with “Breakfast with the Characters” from 8 am to 10 am at the Opera House; Jawbone Park and Main Street are open to our beloved visitors from Noon until 5 pm. Visit period artisans, including an amazingly talented blacksmith, learn how to make butter and milk a cow, or maybe visit the stockades. Carolers and musicians, vendors, FREE Buggy Rides (with a donation of canned food or a cash donation), local Main Street merchants will have special treats, hot chocolate, tea, candy tastings, and wassail, make crafts with Mrs. Clause, live entertainment throughout the day and so much more. End your day with the good tidings “Fezziwig’s Ball” with great food, fun, and entertainment! For questions, please call 304-472-5445.

Hank’s Christmas Wish 2 World Premiere – 7:00 PM
 – HANK’S CHRISTMAS WISH is a story about a retired elf from the North Pole who wanted to live a life of seclusion until several unrelentingly cheery town folk helped him regain his Christmas spirit.  So, what mischief did Hank the Elf get into in Hank’s Christmas Wish 2? Join our cast and experience the magical world of HANK on December 7th for the World Premiere of Hank’s Christmas Wish 2 at The Event Center at Brushy Fork, 929 Brushy Fork Rd, Buckhannon, WV 26201.  The doors open at 6:15 PM, with the premiere beginning at 7:00 PM.  Tickets are $10 per person.

Pay Utility Bills Online or by Phone – To make an online payment for your utility bill, click here: https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/buckhannonwv – To pay over the phone, call 1-866-933-4026.  Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method, you may still want to set up an account, which will allow you to monitor your consumption.  To sign up for this service, you will need to complete the online registration, which includes knowing your Utility Board Account Number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, you must log in with the proper email and password.

Reporting a Necessary Repair or Registering a Concern with the City – To report a necessary repair, such as potholes, damaged street signs, an issue in a city park, etc., or any other matter that a city department should attend to, call City Hall during regular business hours and ask to submit a work order request, or report your concerns through our Citizens Engagement tool: https://buckhannonwv.portal.iworq.net/BUCKHANNON/new-request/700/3444.  This will speed up the reaction time to a matter that needs immediate attention.
