- Curbside Recycling Pick-Up begins at 6:00 am – Pick-up is within the City Limits of Buckhannon. Information about recycling can be found on our website at https://buckhannonwv.org/residents/recycling/, at City Hall, or by calling the Recycling Center or Upshur County Solid Waste Authority at (304) 472-4443.

- Yard Waste Collection for City Residents – Yard Waste (debris) will be collected from City of Buckhannon residents. Residents must contact Buckhannon City Hall to be placed on the collection list. City residents may take their bagged yard waste (debris) to the Transfer Station during regular operating hours at no charge, and may bring up to two truckloads per year, also at no charge.
- Farmers Market in Jawbone Park: The Farmers Market will offer fresh produce and popular local items every Friday from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m., in Jawbone Park now through Friday, October 31st.

- September 6, 2025 – Healthy Hero Hustle 58k – Run/Walk & Health Fair hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan College and WVU Medicine, St. Joseph’s Hospital. Registration opens at 9:00 am at the West Virginia Wesleyan College Fountain Loop on College Avenue.

🍂 Fall 2025 Pumpkin Scarecrow Initiative – Buckhannon’s about to get festive! The Downtown Decoration Committee is inviting locals to help transform Main Street into a charming autumn showcase with pumpkin scarecrows on lightposts. Here’s the scoop:
- Individuals, families, community groups, businesses—anyone with a creative spark can participate!
- We hope to fill the three-block radius of Main Street with scarecrow creations.
- The initiative will only proceed if enough people and businesses sign up.
- Sign-up deadline: September 7, 2025
- Display dates: October 1–31
- Notification: Participants will be contacted once the project is officially approved.

The City of Buckhannon To Auction Used Equipment – The City of Buckhannon will participate in a public auction with Partner Auctions on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. The auction will take place at 30 Brushy Fork Crossing, Buckhannon, WV 26201. Stockert Youth & Community Center Children’s Festival – September 20, 2025 -There will be games, bounce houses, a free lunch for the kids, door prizes, face painting, and so much more! Reminders – To help keep our town and streets attractive, please:
- Lawn care needs to be performed weekly
- Keep grass clippings out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding. When mowing, always blow the grass away from the street.
- Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.
Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.
Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
