All meetings are open to the public and held in Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 E Main St., unless otherwise noted. Virtual attendees should log in a few minutes early to ensure a connection
On Columbus Day, Monday, October 12, 2026, all City offices, including the Buckhannon Transfer Station, will be closed. While administrative and public-facing offices will not be open, essential public services will continue uninterrupted. Waste Collection (garbage pickup) will operate on its normal schedule. Residents should place their containers curbside at their usual times. The City of Buckhannon encourages everyone to enjoy a safe and pleasant Columbus Day. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Flood Recovery Resources
- Free ShockWave Mold Mitigation Supplies Available for July 21 Flood Survivors: Beginning Monday, October 12, 2026, the City of Buckhannon and the Upshur County Commission will provide residents affected by the July 21 flooding with two free gallons of ShockWave by Fiberlock, while supplies last, thanks to the generosity of the West Virginia Southern Baptist Disaster Relief organization. - Permit Fee Waivers: All building and wiring permit fees are waived for verified flood‑related repairs. The City’s Building Code Enforcement Officer will inspect each project to confirm eligibility.
- Flood Relief Donations: Coordinated by the City, County Commission, and Rotary Club of Buckhannon Upshur Foundation. Contributions may be made online at https://app.autobooks.co/pay/rotary-club-of-buckhannon-upshur-foundation
- FEMA Disaster Recovery Center – Extended to October 17.

Hours:- Mon–Fri: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Sat: 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
- FEMA staff can assist with applications, documentation, and questions regarding federal disaster aid. Residents may also apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov (Disaster Number DR‑4932) or call 1‑800‑621‑3362.

- Trash Can Placement: Keep cans hidden from public view except on collection days. Place at the curb the night before and remove within 24 hours after pickup.
- Utility Bill Payments: Pay online or by phone at 1‑866‑933‑4026. Online accounts allow consumption monitoring.
- Report Repairs or Concerns: Call City Hall during business hours or use the Report a Concern tool.
