BUCKHANNON, WV: The City of Buckhannon was saddened to learn that Jim Knorr, former mayor and council member, passed away Thursday night at the age of seventy-nine. Knorr served on City Council from July of 1996 until June of 2002, at which point he was elected to serve as mayor. He filled that role admirably from July 2002 until June of 2008.
In addition to his service to the City of Buckhannon, Knorr taught music in the county school system and was an active member of the Buckhannon Community Theatre and Buckhannon Choral Society. He led the Buckhannon-Upshur High School choir for many years, and was also the choir director at First United Methodist Church. Jim will be greatly missed and our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Judy, son, Chris, and daughter, Cherri. May his memory live on in song and spirit.
