Almost Heaven BBQ Bash Returns to Buckhannon this Weekend

BUCKHANNON, WV: Buckhannon is ready to welcome thousands of visitors as the Almost Heaven BBQ Bash has returned to Buckhannon June 18–20, 2026, bringing three days of award‑winning barbecue, live entertainment, family activities, and one of the nation’s premier competitive BBQ events.

Recognized by Travelocity as one of the Top 25 BBQ Events in the United States, the BBQ Bash has grown into West Virginia’s largest Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS)–sanctioned competition. The winning team earns the title of West Virginia State BBQ Champion and a coveted entry into the Jack Daniel’s Invitational and the American Royal World Series of Barbecue, two of the sport’s most prestigious competitions.

The 2026 festival once again promises activities for all ages, including:

  • Nationally sanctioned BBQ competition featuring four‑meat judging and specialty categories. (Per health regulations, competition teams cannot sell their BBQ, but numerous food vendors will be on site.)
  • Dozens of food vendors serving everything from smoked meats and specialty tacos to homemade ice cream, kettle corn, donuts, pepperoni rolls, and deep‑fried favorites.
  • Artists & crafters offering hand‑crafted goods, demonstrations, and locally made products.
  • Free family activities, including sand art, balloon sculptures, and hands‑on demonstrations.
  • Laurel Fork Falconry presentations with rescued birds of prey and daily falconry demonstrations.
  • LEGO® Brick Bash, featuring building contests, a free Make‑&‑Take area, workshops with master builders, and downtown scavenger hunt elements.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to Jawbone Park and enjoy free live music throughout the festival. This year’s featured performer is Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., winner of America’s Got Talent Season 6 and a proud West Virginia native, who will take the main stage in Jawbone Park at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20.

The Almost Heaven BBQ Bash remains one of Buckhannon’s most anticipated summer traditions, showcasing the city’s hospitality, walkable downtown, and commitment to family‑friendly events.

“Events like the BBQ Bash bring our community together while welcoming visitors from across the region,” said Mayor Robbie Skinner. “We’re proud to host West Virginia’s premier barbecue festival right here in Buckhannon.”
