MR. NASH moved to Buckhannon in 1996, & served as a youth basketball & soccer coach & referee. He then served as a high school soccer & lacrosse referee for nine years. Retiring in 2015 from his job as a federal employee after 32 years, ALLEN NASH became a volunteer for the American Red Cross. More recently MR. NASH began volunteering for the Upshur County public library. He is a regular contributor to the maintenance of our Buckhannon Nature Park & Learning Trail. ALLEN NASH leads the league in hours volunteered in our B-U community according to our Buckhannon Volunteer Center data. Simply stated, ALLEN NASH has helped us all in our B-U community to be better & happier in many ways. His service has heightened our quality of life. I direct that a permanent placard be placed upon our City’s BEST bench in Jawbone Park to forever honor & recognize ALLEN NASH & all past & future honorees of our City’s BEST award.
I further urge all residents to join our City’s most honored guest, ALLEN NASH, his family, friends, admirers including me, along with all members of our City government family during our public ceremony to be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020 as we honor our City’s 16th recipient of our BEST award. We all wish MR. NASH the very best as he continues to work hard for our B-U community. May every resident be mindful of the importance of community service & giving of one’s self & be inspired to give selflessly for the benefit of others as we pay tribute to the many substantial contributions of our exceptional volunteers including the 16th recipient of our City’s BEST Award, MR. ALLEN NASH.
