BUCKHANNON, WV: The Buckhannon City Council welcomed Ethan Smith as newly hired Firefighter for the Buckhannon Fire Department following the Special City Council meeting on Thursday evening. Smith is also qualified as a mechanic and is an Eagle Scout. Smith enjoys the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.

Fire Chief J.B. Kimble said he was glad to have Smith on the department’s fire crew and will be putting him right to work. Smith said he “is honored to be working with the Buckhannon Fire Department.” Smith stopped briefly Friday for a photograph at the Buckhannon Public Safety Complex and then headed out on his first assignment.

The Buckhannon Fire Department is a rural, combination fire department comprised of twenty-four members. Of these members, seventeen are volunteers and seven are paid firefighters.
