Community Flood Recovery Progress & Updated Donation Needs

BUCKHANNON, WV — City, County, and State partners continued coordinated flood‑recovery operations today across Upshur County, including a multi‑agency review of donation management, debris‑removal progress, and emergency‑funding support for our region.

Operations at the joint Lewis–Upshur County Donation & Distribution Center, located at Market Place Plaza, continue Monday through Friday. Current high‑need items include fans, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, and dehumidifiers. Community donations of these items are greatly appreciated.

The West Virginia National Guard and West Virginia Department of Highways remain actively engaged throughout the City of Buckhannon and Upshur County. Crews are working daily to collect flood‑related debris. Residents are urged to move all flood‑related debris to the edge of their property line, as neither Guard members nor WVDOH staff are permitted to enter private property.

As we await additional guidance from FEMA, residents are encouraged to complete the survey that best meets their needs:

  • Assistance Recovering from Flood Damage Survey
  • Volunteer to Help Form
  • Housing Needs Survey
  • Business Impact Survey

A consolidated form containing all links and QR codes for these surveys is available below.
