Mayor Skinner Proclaims March 26, 2021, Dr. Joseph Reed Day!

March 25, 2021, BUCKHANNON, WV – Buckhannon Mayor Robbie Skinner recently brought members of the medical community together to commentate St. Joseph’s Hospital upcoming 100-year anniversary.  He took the opportunity to also single out one person instrumental to the lives of literally thousands of individuals: 2,762 to be exact, including himself – that person being Dr. Joseph Reed!

The Mayor reminded all that Dr. Reed was known for wearing his famous red shoes on delivery day.  Mayor Skinner then shared that he had been due on the 23rd of May in 1989, so when his Mom saw Dr. Reed, in those red shoes, the actual day of his delivery, June 16th, she immediately decided that it was going to be the day that I would come into the world. “Either that or she was going to take his red shoes off and beat him with them for letting me go any further,”!

The proclamation reads:

Dr. Joseph Reed Day, March 26, 2021

Whereas,              Dr. Joseph Reed has served the patients of Buckhannon and the Upshur Community for nearly 55 years;

Whereas,              Dr. Joseph Reed has delivered 2,762 babies during the time period of 1966 to 2000 and continued to provide nursery care for St. Joseph’s Hospital;

Whereas,              Dr. Joseph Reed has served as President of the Medical staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and has served with the West Virginia Chapter of American Academy of Family Medicine and the West Virginia State Medical
