Mayor weighs in for SYC Fitness Challenge to benefit expansion project

February 16, 2018

Mike Cozad of Dominion Energy joined Mayor Dave McCauley at City Hall Friday morning to weigh in and kick off the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge for Stockert Youth Center. Between now and June 29th, marking his 60th birthday, the Mayor will  take part in a healthy lifestyle routine in hopes of increasing physical fitness and losing some pounds while raising funds for the Stockert Youth Center expansion project.

To participate, you can pledge a penny, a dime, or a dollar as follows:

1) During the 24-hour cycle of June 29, pledge a penny for every step the mayor amasses on his Fitbit;

2) For every sit-up the mayor does on Friday afternoon, June 29, pledge a dime;

3) For every pound to be lost between February 16 and June 29, pledge a dollar.

Or, start a fitness challenge of your own and recruit others to pledge donations to the Stockert Youth Center for your accomplishments. Mr. Cozad decided to do just that and has pledged $5 for every pound he loses, plus $10 for every additional pound that the Mayor loses.

What will your pledge or fitness challenge be? We want to hear from you! To join the campaign, stop by Stockert Youth Center or Buckhannon City Hall and make your monetary or fitness pledge. Let’s get healthy for American Heart Health Month while raising money for Stockert Youth Center!
