News Release from the West Virginia Emergency Management Division – Disaster Recovery Centers To Open 


BUCKHANNON, WV — City, County, and State partners continued coordinated flood‑recovery operations today across Upshur County.  We noted this news release posted earlier today on the West Virginia Emergency Management Division Facebook page, shown here as it appears online:

Following the major disaster declaration – FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency teams have been mobilized and are working to provide support within Lewis and Upshur counties.

These centers will open TOMORROW – August 8, 2026 to the public at 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

DRCs are available for flood victims who are seeking disaster aid. Currently, individuals and households located in only Lewis and Upshur counties are eligible to apply for aid.

LEWIS COUNTY

Former Summit Center – 37 Elizabeth St. Weston, WV

UPSHUR COUNTY

Upshur County Development Authority – 21 E. Main St. Buckhannon, WV

Disaster Recovery Centers will be staffed with FEMA officials, along with individuals from local emergency management and supporting agencies to provide assistance in applying for disaster aid, answering questions, and submitting proper information to FEMA for Individual Assistance (IA) and supplemental programs.

Affected individuals are also encouraged to apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov using the Disaster Number (DR) 4932 when applying, or by calling the hotline at 1-800-621-3362.
