Reminder – Sidewalks Must Be Kept Clear by Property Owners

BUCKHANNON, WV: The City of Buckhannon urges all residents to exercise caution during this current winter weather event.  

We also would like to remind all residents that (per Ordinance # 193) abutting property owners are responsible for sidewalk maintenance, including removal and clearing of all snow and ice that accumulates on sidewalks abutting or adjoining their premises. 

As always, when clearing the sidewalks of snow, ice, leaves, or debris, be sure to properly dispose of the debris.  Do not sweep it into the gutter or street.
