BUCKHANNON: On a sunny Saturday morning in October, over one hundred volunteers came out to do service projects around the City of Buckhannon. They cleaned up parks, the community garden, the animal shelter, and the Buckhannon River.

Volunteers assisted the Literacy Volunteers of Upshur County haul books into their storage facility and cleaned up the Buckhannon Manor. Still others built a new trail at City Park for young mountain bikers to practice on before taking on the more extensive trail system at the Upshur Recreation Park.

Before heading out to their service sites, many of the volunteers dropped off canned goods for the Upshur County Cooperative Parish House at the registration tables.

The annual event is organized as a collaborative effort between the City of Buckhannon, Buckhannon Volunteer Center, local nonprofit organizations, and West Virginia Wesleyan College Greek Life and Center for Community Engagement.

The Buckhannon Volunteer Center is funded in part by a grant through the Volunteer Generation Fund and Volunteer West Virginia. To get involved, go to buckhannonwv.org/volunteer!

We want to thank everyone who participated and hope for another big turnout in 2020! Great work!
