  • Curbside Recycling Pick-Up begins at 6:00 a.m. – Pick-up is within the City Limits of Buckhannon. Information about recycling can be found on our website at https://buckhannonwv.org/residents/recycling/, at City Hall, or by calling the Recycling Center or Upshur County Solid Waste Authority at (304) 472-4443.

Friday, December 5, 2025

  • Buckhannon Fire Department Christmas Parade – The BFD annual Christmas Parade will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Lineup will begin at 5:15 p.m. on Madison Street.  To participate, go to Madison Street beginning at lineup time.  Santa Claus is a BFD parade guest and will visit the Buckhannon Fire Department following the parade; no other Santa characters are allowed in the parade.  The parade will travel from Madison Street, turn onto South Locust Street, continue down Main Street, and conclude on East Main Street at Sedgwick Street.  No parking is allowed along the parade route during parades; vehicles left on the streets will be towed.

  • Hank’s Christmas Wish 3: Elvis Lives Movie Premiere, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at The Event Center at Brushy Fork. – This event is free to all who wish to celebrate Christmas, community, and movie magic!  Meet cast members, take photos, and be part of a heartwarming holiday tradition filmed right here in Buckhannon. Let’s kick off the season with faith, joy, and a little bit of Elvis! Scheduled guests include Dean Cain, Richard Grieco, Michael Sigler, and Jessica Adams.

Saturday, December 6, 2025

  • Holiday “FURtastic” Elimination Dinner, beginning at 6:00 p.m. – Dinner catered by the Whistle Stop; last ticket wins $1,000; proceeds benefit Luv 4 Animals, Buckhannon Dog Park, and Weston Friends of Feral & Strays.  Tickets are $35 Single and $300 for a table for 8. Purchase via Eventbrite @ Holiday Furtastic Elimination Dinner Page or in person in Buckhannon at Sweet-A-Licious (or call 304.677.8393 or 304.472.4647), in Weston at the Lewis County Liquor Store and Stonewall Veterinary Hospital.

  • December 14, 2025 – Annual Menorah Lighting in Jawbone Park at 7:00 p.m.


Coming to the Colonial Arts Center

  • Now through December 13, 2025 – The CAC Gallery at the Colonial Arts Center is hosting ‘Luminescence,’ a solo exhibition by Sikara Sokel.  The CAC Gallery is open 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.  Sokel is a contemporary painter from Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and a 2024 graduate of Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and primarily works in oil, reimagining traditional portraiture through vibrancy, light, and color.
  • December 4 through 7, 2025 – Buckhannon Community Theatre presents “Jr. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Reminders – To help keep our town and streets attractive, please:

  • Keep leaves out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding.
  • Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.

Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.

Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
