Monday, May 25

  • Mayor Skinner Speaks at Memorial Day Service –Mayor Robbie Skinner joined the Upshur County Honor Guard, which includes members of VFW Post 3663 and American Legion Post 7, City Recorder Randy Sanders, newly elected City Council Member Shawn Young, and WV Senator Robbie Morris, along with other community leaders and members, to honor the fallen heroes on this Memorial Day.   • Consolidated Public Works Board Meeting – 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. – Attend in person or join virtually using this link or by calling (872) 240-3212, access code 376-934-309.

  • Waste Collection Delayed by One Day – Due to the Memorial Day holiday, Waste Collection will be delayed by one day. Curbside recycling will follow its normal schedule unless it falls on an observed holiday, in which case it will be collected on the next regularly scheduled Tuesday. If you have questions about the collection, call Buckhannon City Hall at (304) 472-1430.

  • Buckhannon Pride: Simple Ways We Keep Our Community Looking Its Best – As warmer weather arrives, the City of Buckhannon is reminding residents to help keep our community clean, safe, and welcoming for neighbors and visitors. Each year, several recurring issues generate complaints. The City asks all residents to take a few simple steps to maintain their properties and follow established ordinances.

    An example is the reminder for swimming pool safety — Private pools deeper than 24 inches must be located in rear yards and fully enclosed by a six‑foot barrier. Stagnant water must be drained to prevent mosquito breeding (Ordinance #244 Section 606). Click here for the complete list.

  • City of Buckhannon Reminder of Yard Waste & Leaf Collection Procedures – The City of Buckhannon has issued its ongoing procedures for yard waste and loose leaf collection. Please review the guidelines (click here) to ensure materials are properly prepared and placed for pickup on the correct dates, noting special dates due to large events and holidays.
  • Festival Fridays return to Jawbone Park in a BIG Way – Season opens June 5th with the Davisson Brothers. For the full season of Festival Fridays, click here.

  • May 21 – Buckhannon Songwriters Meeting (Free Monthly Workshop) from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Reminders:

  • Trash Can Placement: Trash cans must be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before the collection and return them within 24 hours after the collection.
  • Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.
  • Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
