Welcome to “BoOoOo!”ckhannon; Halloween events begin next week

BUCKHANNON, WV: The surrounding forests are starting to display their fall color and each evening brings a chill in the air–it’s almost time for Halloween! The City of Buckhannon has a bundle of fun events coming up to spook and thrill families of all ages.

The Buckhannon Community Theatre kicks off the spooktacular series with a production of DRACULA! at the Colonial Theatre with shows nightly at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24 through Sunday, October 27.

Stockert Youth & Community Center will host a Haunted House on Friday, October 25 from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.

Traders Alley will be terrorized by zombies on Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, October 29, with Monday featuring kid-friendly zombies and Tuesday bringing the even scarier adult and older-children/teen zombies. Learn more here!

The Buckhannon Police Department will host the annual Trunk-or-Treat event at the Buckhannon Public Safety Complex parking lot on Wednesday, October 30, with many City departments and community partners participating with goodies to share. Trunk-Or-Treat kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and goes until 8:00 p.m. or until supplies last. Get there early with your kiddos!

On Halloween, Thursday, October 31, trick-or-treaters will take over the town, showing off costumes and asking for treats from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in City limits. Please be especially cautious if driving through town at that time, and parents make sure your children are cautious when crossing streets and dressed with a light or reflective clothing/strips.

Following trick-or-treating, the Buckhannon Fitness Center will dazzle Jawbone Park with a Thriller flash mob to benefit the animal welfare nonprofit, Luv 4 Animals, and the Lewis Upshur Animal Control Facility. Bring a cash donation or an item to benefit the animals in their care. They need Advantage flea/tick prevention for dogs and cats, gas cards for rescue transports, leashes and collars, animal treat pill pockets, wet cat food, bleach, Kong toys, King filler treats, and cat toys Check out their Facebook event and join the fun!

In addition to the events happening downtown, the West Virginia Wildlife Center will be hosting Spooky Nights tours of the Wildlife Center this Friday and Saturday! The event is in its eleventh year and also features a maze and hayrides. Check out the West Virginia Wildlife Center website to learn more.
