Tuesday, July 7

  • Curbside Recycling Pickup begins at 6:00 a.m. – Pickup occurs within Buckhannon city limits. You can find information about recycling on our website at https://buckhannonwv.org/residents/recycling/, at City Hall, or by calling the Recycling Center or Upshur County Solid Waste Authority at (304) 472-4443.

Thursday, July 9

  • Water Board Meeting, 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. – Attend in person or join virtually using this link or by calling (872) 240-3212, access code 234-619-757.


Friday, July 10

  • Bulky Goods Collection begins at 5:30 a.m. – Bulky goods collection is for large items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, appliances, etc. (All Buckhannon Waste Department customers are allowed four items per month and eight tires per year.)   You must call by Wednesday, July 8, to schedule a pickup.  Items must be at the curb by 5:30 a.m. on Friday to ensure pickup.

  • Festival Fridays in Jawbone Park – Season 14 of Festival Fridays continues in Jawbone Park, featuring a regional favorite and Clarksburg native, Ryan Cain. For the full season of Festival Fridays, click here.

  • Farmers Market in Jawbone Park – The 2026 Farmers Market is every Friday, now through October 30th. For more information, click here.

Announcements

  • Water Department Upgrades Central Avenue Area -The City of Buckhannon Water Department is continuing its water line upgrade along Central Avenue, installing a new 6‑inch line and fire hydrant to replace the aging 4‑inch main. Read more about the summer project here.

  • Notice of Meeting Cancellation, City of Buckhannon Planning Commission – The City of Buckhannon Planning Commission meeting scheduled for July 20, 2026, has been canceled due to a lack of clear agenda items. The next regular meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 70 East Main Street, Buckhannon, WV, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. If necessary, a special meeting will be announced.

  • City Council Meeting – August 6, 2026, has been canceled due to a conflict with the WVML Conference.

  • WV Largest Yard Sale will be held August 7 – 8, 2026.  For more information and to register, click here.

  • National Night Out will be held August 4, 2026, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at the Upshur County Pool (at the high school as usual).

The City asks all residents to take a few simple steps to maintain their properties and follow established ordinances. Click here for the complete list.

  • City of Buckhannon Reminder of Yard Waste & Leaf Collection Procedures – Here are the City’s ongoing procedures for yard waste and loose leaf collection. Please review the guidelines (click here) to ensure materials are properly prepared and placed for pickup on the correct dates, noting special dates due to large events and holidays.

  • City’s Street Sweeping Schedule – The City has established a monthly Street Sweeping schedule; click here. To help our crews keep your neighborhood clean, we encourage you to move your vehicles off the street before your scheduled day. A little preparation goes a long way in helping the sweeper do a thorough job

  • Trash Can Placement: Trash cans must be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before the collection and return them within 24 hours after the collection.
  • Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.
  • Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
