Election Day 2022 – All city offices, including the Transfer Station, will be closed in observance of Election Day.  Council Chambers, in City Hall, serves as the location for Precinct #9 voting.  The normal waste collection will be followed.

Great American Smokeout Proclamation 10:15am – Mayor Robbie Skinner is scheduled to meet with local representatives of the American Cancer Society in Council Chambers to issue a proclamation recognizing the Great American Smokeout held in November.  It is a challenge to smokers to give up cigarettes for 24 hours – this year it is on November 17th.

Veterans Day 2022 Observed – The City of Buckhannon will honor all veterans of the uniformed services who served or are still serving during times of peace and war.  In doing so, all city offices, including the Transfer Station, will be closed.  The normal waste collection will be followed.

Veterans Day Parade – The Veterans Day parade will take place with a line-up for the parade will occur at 9:00am at the Gibson Library along Sedgwick St. The parade will begin at 10:00am and will commence west down Main Street and will then turn left onto Kanawha Street. The parade will then turn left onto Colerider Street and proceed to Jawbone Park where it will end.   Following the parade, there will be a ceremony in Jawbone Park, which will be attended by Mayor Robbie Skinner.  All arrangements are being handled by the American Legion Post 7 and the VFW Post 3663.

FYI – Customers of the Buckhannon Utility Boards are able to pay their utility bills online with no additional charges. Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method you may still desire to set up an account, as it will allow you to monitor your consumption.

To sign up to use this service you need to complete the online registration, which includes knowing your Utility Board Account Number (it is printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, you will just need to log in with the proper email and password.
